Curitiba – Brazil

The Curitiba plant encompasses a powertrain plant and a foundry, in the Ayrton Senna complex, one of Renault Group’s largest industrial bases in South America. Over the 24 years since it opened, this plant has produced over 5 million engines for domestic and export markets.

The powertrain R&D Centre is a flex-fuel centre of expertise and carries out bench tests for engines in labs.

ENVIRONMENT

The HORSE Curitiba plant reuses or recycles 100% of its waste. Its industrial waste treatment process follows the country’s National Solid Waste Policy guidelines and circular-economy principles, and earned the plant a local ECO Award.

OUR HISTORY – BACK TO THE KEY DATE

1997: Renault do Brasil Automoveis (RDBA) was founded, 60% owned by Cofal.

1998: The Ayrton Senna plant officially opened.

1999: The Mecanica Mercosul engine plant officially opened.

2001: The engine plant’s production and stamping lines started up.

2004: K4M (1.6L 16V) dual fuel (petrol and ethanol) engine production began.

2005: Launched a full range of flex-fuel engines (1.0 and 1.6 multivalve bi-fuel units).

2007: Inaugurated the Renault Technology America centre.

2014: 3 million engine milestone.

2016: Launched BR10 and H4M engine production.

2018: Opened new Casting plant.

4 million engine milestone.

2023: The Curitiba powertrain plant and foundry became part of Horse on 1 July.
